battery1 10 Tips To Extend Your Battery LifeYour mobile phone needs your battery in order to be able to work. Therefore, you are totally dependent upon the battery life of your phone.

Today, most mobile phones’ standby time is several days in length, but even so, there will still come a time whenever you really need to make a call and cannot do so because your battery is dying.

Thankfully, this does not have to happen on a regular basis. This is because there are several ways in which you can improve the length of time that your battery will be good for.

The majority of today’s mobile phones use one of the following types of batteries:

  1. Nickel Camium (NiCd)
  2. Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMh)
  3. Lithium Ion (Li-Ion)

Each of these types of batteries needs to be treated differently whenever it comes to charging it. With this in mind, you should know that the first time you charge your new phone is actually the most important time. So, while you want to be able to use your phone as soon as possible, it is still important to charge it for 12 hours, or overnight, first. By doing so you will be able to ensure that your battery is at its peak.

What is even better is to also ensure that the second time you charge your battery, you do the same thing as you did the first time, even though your phone will tell you that it is charged after just a few hours. This is because your phone will still continue receiving some charge until you finally unplug it. After you have done this, you can begin a normal charging routine, which is dependent upon the type of battery that you have.

NiCd batteries need to be discharged every other charge cycle. This means that the phone will need to have its battery completely drained to the point that the phone shuts itself off. On the other hand, a NiMh battery can be recharged a few times and only needs to have a full discharge cycle once a week. Then there are Li-Ion batteries that should never be totally discharged. It is important to get into a good routine where you are able to recharge your battery properly so that it will last longer. While this may sound like a nuisance right now, once you begin doing it you will find that it will just come naturally to you.

Now, here are 10 other ways in which you can get the most out of recharging your battery properly:

  1. A lot of people leave their phone turned on over night even though they know that they will either not get a call or not answer it if they do. The point here is that if you do not need to have your phone on at night, then you should switch it off. Doing so will not only increase your battery’s life, but it will also provide time for your phone to clear out its memory and do other important tasks.
  2. Every mobile phone has a back light that is necessary for illuminating your display. However, it does not have to be overly bright. You can change this level of illumination and the amount of time that it stays on for. This will greatly benefit your battery’s life.
  3. The majority of mobile phones will allow you to set up a personal profile. One of the things that you can change in here is the way your phone vibrates and rings. While it is easy to simply set this on ìnormalî and forget about it, this is not what is best for your phone. This is because a loud ring tone coupled with the vibrate mode use up way too much of your battery’s life. For this reason you should turn your phone down and your vibrate off whenever possible.
  4. Another thing that will eat up your battery’s life is 3G. If you do not need to use this all of the time, then you really should switch to GSM 2G whenever possible. Unfortunately though, not every phone offers this option.
  5. Many mobile phones are able to run several applications at one time. If you have a phone that is able to do this, make sure that you turn things off whenever you are done using them. Otherwise you are simply wasting your battery.
  6. While animations and screen savers are great they will quickly use up your battery’s life. This is true of anything that does something with your phone while you are not using it. So, if you want to have your battery last longer, you will need to turn all of these things off.
  7. A lot of phones that are able to connect to Wi-Fi networks continually search for them. If your phone has an option as to whether or not to do this, you really should flip it off. This is also true for Bluetooth and GPS. These features can be turned on whenever you need them and until then you can save your battery’s life.
  8. You may find that your phone has either a battery saver or a power save option hidden within its menu system. Whenever you activate this it will shut down any feature that is not essential after a specified amount of time has past without you using these features. This feature may also change your back light and brightness too. So, if you cannot find a way to set these features individually, you really should give this a try.
  9. Unfortunately there is one thing that is largely beyond your control. This is the strength of your phone’s signal. Basically this occurs because whenever your phone has an intermittent signal it is using a lot of power to try to establish a new or better signal. An option here is to shut your phone off. However, if you must have your phone on, then you should consider purchasing a signal booster box.
  10. If you have a strong will and you are dedicated to making your phone’s battery last longer, then the best thing to do is to use your phone and its various features a lot less.

The more of these tips you are able to follow, the longer your battery will last. Simple.
