google-android-lg1 Android Phone Could Track And Improve Carbon FootprintWhat if your phone could not only track your carbon footprint, but show you how to improve that footprint? A Canadian team is hoping that will happen soon with their Eco2go mobile phone application that will run on Google’s Android phone operating system.

While Eco2go is still a concept, it has been named one of the 50 most exciting software concepts for Android. The software would run in the background, tracking your travels. On request, it will show your recent car trips and suggest public transportation alternative for each route, and show tips from other Android users. And, the phone will calculate your carbon emissions and present suggestions for offsets.

Most of the details are still fuzzy, and Android phones aren’t expected for some time, but the possibilities are very exciting.
