n85_nokia_launch22 Nokia Announce N85Nokia announced the arrival of two exciting handsets this week – the N79 and N85. The N85 (shown below) is dual slider which interestingly looks similar in design to that of the ever so popular N95 model. This is certainly not a bad thing, and coupled with sexy looks, the N85 also comes with some high end features:

Nokia N85 features:

  • 2.6″ OLED screen displaying 16 million colours.
  • A 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss camera with flash, autofocus and 30fps VGA video mode.
  • Assisted GPS built-in.
  • Many connectivity options including Wi-Fi, 3G with HSDPA support and A2DP Bluetooth.
  • Ten pre-loaded N-Gage games.

The Nokia N85 is slimmer than the N95 at only 16mm in depth and its the new OLED screen which really makes the N85 standout. To make the most of the screen, its gaming ability has been emphasised with dedicated keys becoming usable when the handset is in landscape mode, plus the chance to activate one N-Gage title is included.

As well as having great gaming capabilities, the N85 is also an excellent media player. There is the expected fantastic music and video quality playback and an added FM transmitter which allows playback through any radio which is tuned into a set specific frequency. this function is ideal when in the car.

As the N85 uses Symbian S60, with Feature Pack 2 installed, there are plenty of downloadable applications available on the Internet and the Nokia Download! service is a feature on the handset.  Add in an FM RDS radio, 8GB of memory, an accelerometer and a battery quoted as returning 363 hours of standby and more than 6 hours of talktime, and the N85 becomes a mobile phone to get very excited about indeed!  Expect it to be on the shelves sometime in October.

Yes the Nokia is slimmer and can be used with an FM Transmitter to play the music emanating from it and broadcast it to an audio source.
