HTC has been working tirelessly to bring in mobile users from all around the world, and finally they just might be able to do that with their newcomer. HTC has now officially announced the Touch HD Pocket PC, a little multimedia monster, which comes in with more features than the HTC Touch Diamond, and even more than most of all the multimedia handsets currently on the market.
The Touch HD’s attractive features are: its 3.8 inch TFT touchscreen display with a Wide-VGA (WVGA) resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera (but with no flash unfortunately), a 3.5mm audio jack, quad-band GSM connectivity (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) with GPRS and EDGE, dual-band HSDPA connectivity (900/2100 MHz) for data transfer speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps, HTC TouchFLO 3D interface to cover Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.1, Wi-Fi, GPS, A-GPS and Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR.
The Touch HD also relies on a 528 MHz Qualcomm MSM720 processor and features 512 MB of Flash memory, 288 MB of RAM and a slot for microSD or microSDHC cards. Nice features huh?
Now even though this phone is a bit on the skinny side, 115×62.8×12 millimeters, the Touch HD is a bit on the heavy side, coming in at 146.5 grams. Although being skinny and heavy, you sure can do 390 minutes of talk time or up to 450 hours in standby mode with its 1350 mAh battery.
Currently there isn’t a price set for the HTC Touch HD, but we’ll probably find out as the release date gets closer. As for the release date, that should be sometime in the last quarter of 2008. First ones to get their hands on it would first be major European carriers.
