It looks as though HTC believe that touchscreen phones are the way of the future judging by the announcement of yet another two touch based handsets to their line up. The Touch 3G and Touch Viva will both use the quick TouchFLO navigation system and run Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional.
The Touch 3G (above) has been designed with internet browsing in mind and HTC claim that wireless download speeds at upto 18 times fast than standard 3G can be achieved. The phone will include an internet browser which will allow you to zoom in and move around web pages single handedly. Handy applications include an RSS reader, You Tube video streaming and Google Maps for direction.
It measures 102 x 53.6 x 14.5mm, weighs 96 grams, has a 2.8-inch QVGA screen and a 3.2-megapixel camera. Other features include Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, microSD memory card slot and GPS and AGPS.
Available in four colours – sophisticated black, noble gold, sparkle blue and modern brown
More interestingly named, the Touch Viva is HTC’s more affordable model and contains similar design elements to the original HTC Touch. No 3G internet browsing is available on this phone, and the camera is less impressive at only 2 Megapixel,.
The Touch Viva measures 104.5 x 59 x 15.75mm, weighs 110 grams and gets a 2.8-inch QVGA screen. Other features include Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, GPS, AGPS, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and a microSD card slot. The Touch Viva has a slower 201MHz CPU compared to the Touch 3G’s 528MHz chip.
Both handsets will be available in early October 2008, but pricing is yet to be confirmed.
