Samsung has released teaser info on (or more accurately, info has been leaked on) its second 8mp camera phone, the M880 (codenamed Pixon internally for some reason), which will be available in the UK from the end of October sometime, according to numerous sources. It seems to be primarily aimed at those who prize a high-end camera with their phone, to snap pics of those unforgettable moments with awesome clarity for a mobile phone.

To display the speed at which phone technology is evolving, the release bests LG’s KC910, which only very recently claimed the title of slimmest eight-megapixel camera phone. At only 13.8mm thick, the Pixon takes 0.15mm off the size of the LG KC910. Like the LG model, the Pixon also includes a large 3.2 inch touch-screen as well. It even include shake reduction circuitry and blink detection. It can record video at up to 30 frames a second.

The device will be formally unveiled on Monday. No prices were available at press time, but is expected to be in the $700-800 (US) range or so.

Specs include: 8 megapixel camera with auto-focus, 16x Zoom, Dual Power LED Flash, Face Detection and Smile Shot, Photo Browser (Accelerometer Sensor), High Speed Video Capture and Playback, HSDPA Quad-Band 7.2Mbps connectivity, and Online Widget for easy access to frequently used functions.

I have recently purchased this phone, and love it. It’s camera is great and the phone is very easy to use. The only thing that is a bit of a let down is the lack of Wi-Fi connectivity. However, the HSDPA high speed internet connectivity of the device is brilliant, it lets me load web pages very quickly.
