HTC To Produce 2 Million G1 Android Phones

759383 HTC To Produce 2 Million G1 Android Phones

HTC, manufacturer of the world’s first Android-powered phone, is expecting to produce over 2 million of its  G1 units for T Mobile. Industry insiders say that of that number, between 400,000 and 500,000 phones are predicted to be sold  in the last quarter of 2008 alone.

Compared to Apple’s original sales target of 10 million units of its iPhone, 2 million units seems like a small number, however this is a significant achievement for a new handset like the G1 and an operating system such as Google’s Android.

You wont hear HTC complaining though – in money terms, this equates to an extra NT$25 billion over the course of next year.
