HTC’s Touch HD went official in Germany a few days ago, and out comes a review from Germany calling it the best thing since the invention of the wheel. Okay, so maybe our German is a little rusty, but one thing’s for sure – it was called the first “iPhone killer to deserve that name.”
Right off the bat, reviewers glowed over the TouchFLO 3D interface for enveloping the Windows Mobile OS, and of course, the huge display was praised numerous times. Additionally, critics praised the Opera browser while taking down Internet Explorer, and while it’s hard to say for certain whether the battery life was remarkable (due to the small review timeframe), it definitely seemed to get their complete vote of awesomeness.
Of note, the 3.5-millimeter headphone jack was also loved, prompting us to wonder why the T-Mobile G1 didn’t include this. At any rate, it seems pretty clear that the Touch HD is poised to take a serious run at the well-known smartphone from Apple, but we’re trying to be patient until it becomes available on this side of the ocean (something not expected for a month or two). It’ll be an interesting race to keep an eye on.
