touch-hd HTC Touch HD Wont Be Touching Down In The USBad news for US phone lovers – HTC have declared that they have no plans to release the Touch HD to the US, citing engineering issues supporting the 3G HSDPA and HSUPA bands. The company believe that it would simply take too long to rework 3G radios for US frequencies used by the likes of AT&T and T Mobile USA. They explain that by the time they developed a new compatible version, the handset would be obsolete.

The announcement came via Twitter.com where HTC also stated that they were suprised by the demand for the HD in the States and other markets where no launch had been planned.

The Touch HD with its gigantic 3.8 inch touchscreen was already being touted as the biggest threat to Apple’s iPhone 3G, and this news must come as a blow to to many US fans. However, HTC did manage to goto the effort of putting the Touch HD through FCC (Federal Communications Commission) approval, meaning the non 3G versions will be available for import.
