Mobile manufacturers HTC are clearly having an excellent year. After successfully releasing the much coveted HTC Diamond, they moved directly to producing the first ever Google Android operated phone, the G1, and they are now it again with their latest release – the T8290. Exclusive leaked pictures of the T8290 have emerged and is said to be HTC’s first WiMAX enabled device, designed for Russia’s Yota WiMAX networks.

Continuing the growing trend of smartphones that come with broadband internet speeds and advanced browsing functionalities, the HTC T8290 with it’s WiMAX technology, is capable of offering ultra-fast wireless browsing as an alternative to 3G. Since Russia does not have 3G access, using WiMAX for browsing is a great solution- allowing high speed internet access at upto 14Mbps.

On first impressions, the HTC T8290 is a sexy little beast and has a front end design similar to the Touch Diamond but with a larger 3.8 inch (800×400) touchscreen. Specifications are a little sketchy, but the handsets is said to be running Windows Mobile, with Wifi and Bluetooth enabled and will also feature an additional front facing camera to compliment the rear facing one.

No official release date or pricing of the handset has been announced. As with all rumours and leaked information, we will just have to wait and see.
