A woman from Knotts Island, USA has filed a suit against mobile corporate giants Motorola and Nextel after a mobile phone charger allegedly blinded her in the right eye. The suit is apparently for $15 million and comes with the strict instructions that the phone charger should hold a warning that “safety glasses should be worn when using such car charges”.
Does this mean she would have heeded or even read such advice when trying out her new phone? This interesting suit on the grounds of design negligence has left many people lost for words, including Motorola themselves who have simply not responded to the suit as of yet.
The allegation was that on the 7th September whilst using the charger in her car, the coil “suddenly, precipitously and without warning” recoiled and struck Valerie McIndoe in the eye rendering her blind with the phone jack.
Americans eh? They’re never happy unless they’re suing someone…
