Only a few days ago it was announced Samsung would be revealing an 8 megapixel phone, which would be the best phone on the market for camera users. However, today a rumor has been circulating that Sony Ericsson is working on a 12mexapixel camera for inclusion in their next Sony Ericsson model. This rumor is no doubt sparked by the Samsung announcement. The phone, which has been codenamed the Kotaku, will also feature a touchscreen interface. It will also feature the Symbian OS version 9.4, which keeps the phone in its Symbian roots.

One peculiar thing about the phone is that there will be no 3.5mm headphone jack or mini USB slot for connectivity, so hopefully the phone will support Bluetooth technology for listening via headset.

Another big rumor is that the phone will do away with the Memory Stick format entirely, and instead conform to market standards and include a microSD slot. If this is the case, that means Sony’s Memory Stick format might just take a big nose dive among the non-gaming population.
