There’s a big time business strategy chess match going on these days at Samsung, beginning with the just launched a637 and flowing through the high-drama valley rumors of Omnia, BlackJack III, and pretty much everything in between.

Some solid info on the a867 has started to leak out. First of all, sources state it will be branded as the “Samsung Eternity” (though the name has changed a few times, so who knows what it will say on it when its released) when it launches next mid-month in the US for $150 or so with a contract.

samsung-eternity-att The Samsung Eternity: First LookIt looks fairly similar to an Omnia, but the similarities stop right there; it’s actually got closer ties to the F480 since it will not use WinMo in favor of Samsung’s proprietary setup software. Samsung is looking to target the Vu for the its competition, thanks to MediaFLO support built in (no external antenna needed!), a generous 3.2-inch touchscreen, and an integrated 3-megapixel cam (about average these days). It also does AGPS, includes an all-important 3.5mm headphone jack, and can handle those shiny new 16GB microSD cards, making it a decent media player all around (in theory, anyhow).

The LG may have to take a glance over its shoulder at some point very soon.

features include GPS, a 3-megapixel camera, support for AT&T Mobile TV, Bluetooth, a microSD card slot, HTML browser, 3G, speakerphone, AT&T Video Share service and more. You can get the Samsung Eternity now on AT&T for $149.99 with a two-year contract.

What more can you ask. There’s already a fans forum called http://www.Samsung-Eternity.com LOL

why no wifi??? why? why was it degraded from the omnias 5mp to this 3mp abomination of a half ass phone. if it had wifi it would be a good choice, but no wifi is just too much. iphone was afraid of competition so they cried to their mom (At&t) to kick the bully’s ass.

Disappointed too about the lack of Wi-Fi connectivity, but at least you get 10 days of standby time… Try that with an iPhone!
